7th July 2008
This is the excavation for one of the two soakaways. It is 2.7m square on plan and 2.5m deep (9ft x 9ft x 8ft). The use of soakaways helps to prevent flooding by relieving the pressure on the local stormwater drains.

7th July 2008
These are the concrete rings used to form the soakaway chamber. They are 2.1m in diameter and perforated to allow the water to flow out of the chamber into the surrounding ground.

7th July 2008
The concrete rings and a cover slab have been installed in the first hole. The gap between the rings and the ground will be filled with stone. The black fabric is permeable and prevents the soil from migrating into the stone.

8th July 2008
The car park area has been reduced to formation level and a timber edging installed along the perimeter.

8th July 2008
This pile of stone is destined for one of the soakaways.

8th July 2008
"X" marks the spot for the second soakaway.

11th July 2008
The second soakaway has now been constructed and surrounded with stone.
